Sometimes you have got to wonder how Damian Lazarus does it all.
On top of being a celebrated producer and DJ, he runs one of the most respected record labels in circulation and curates some of the most revered parties to take place world over. From the moment he first begun DJing, Damian has been striving to push the boundaries of mediocracy, combining different styles to create unique musical experiences that are unlike any other in the scene. Ahead of the curve, Damian is constantly embracing new ideas and different perspectives, allowing them to shine on the dance floors he plays for throughout the world.
His very own musical mission has led him to discover a plethora of other talent in the process, highlighting them both through his Crosstown Rebels imprint and the plethora of influential parties he throws all over the word, from Get Lost to Rebel Rave and of course the one-and-only Day Zero.
The truth is that Damian has taken his very own approach to music and has adapted it to the way he unearths other talent and showcases it through his various mediums. During its 12-year lifespan, Damien and his label have been responsible for launching the careers of some of our scene’s best-known names; Jamie Jones, Art Department, Maceo Plex and Deniz Kurtel just to name a few. Damian is an expert in performing his magic in extraordinary outdoor locations; jungles, beaches, the Robot Heart bus in the Nevada desert, Mayan ruins in Mexico and a whole host of other spellbinding sites around the world. It is no surprise then that he has himself become a master party curator of outdoor events, as Get Lost in Miami and of course the superlative Day Zero in Mexico prove.
His approach to hosting alfresco shows is unique, especially when combined with a 24-hour party ethos that sees music aficionados brave his events with unmatched tenacity and passion.
More recently, Damian has launched a brand new collaborative artist project, Damian Lazarus and The Ancient Moons. Joined at the production controls by James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Florence) and with album recording sessions completed in Mexico, the project brings together a wide assortment of vocalists, collaborators and players from around the world, and takes them to locations far and wide for unrivaled performances featuring a live show and an assorted cast of musicians who perform live alongside the chief wizard himself.
We are happy to welcome Damian to the Minimal Effort family this coming October 28th for Minimal Effort: All Hallow’s Eve, where he is joined on our two stages by the likes of MK, Dusky, Brodinski, Amine Edge & DANCE, BEHROUZ, Human Resources and a full Phase 2 lineup yet to be revealed.
